Frequently Asked Questions...
incl. counterbalance forklift training costs
Whether you want to know about the type/level of forklift training available, how many days the FLT training courses are, minimum numbers required or what forklift training costs & how to make it as affordable as possible, if your question isn't answered below, please get in touch to discuss.
What types of forklift training are available?
In Scotland, we deliver forklift training tailored to your business and operator needs, which means the right type of course will depend on the machines you have, the products you lift/move, and the driver's experience levels.
We offer:
- basic forklift training (including safety, awareness and handling)
- forklift conversion training (for training on a different model or type of flt)
- experienced operator training (advanced forklift training for specialist applications or machines, to expert level)
- flt refresher training (only suitable for certified operators who have documented experience on flts)
Can I do my training at night or on backshift?
Yes, absolutely! We know what a hassle it is to mess with shifts just to try and get operators trained during the day, so we offer nightshift and backshift training to fit in with your existing shift patterns, and train your team up as efficiently as possible in real-world conditions.
Do you provide certification?
Yes! All our forklift operator courses are fully certified, so the main decision required is whether you need AITT accredited training for your forklift drivers, or whether in-house certification is sufficient.
The most common request we get is for training that provides a counterbalance forklift licence.
All our courses include theory, practical hands-on training and a practical assessment that operators need to pass in order to achieve their licence/certification.
What are the minimum numbers of operators for a forklift training course?
Forklift training courses can be run for a minimum of 1 delegate, though courses are priced per day, so it can be more cost effective to put 2 or 3 delegates on a course each time.
The maximum number of delegates per trainer is 3, to ensure each delegate gets an equal amount of focus and support.
What does counterbalance forklift training cost to get a licence?
Unfortunately there's no single answer on how much it costs to get a forklift operator licence, as it depends on a few factors:
- Number of delegates - because we price our courses per day, if you have more than 1 delegate, the price per delegate reduces if you have 2 or 3 on the same course.
- Experience level of delegates - if all delegates have some existing experience and/or certification, the number of days required for the training is likely to be less.
- Accredited vs in-house certification - accredited (AITT) training specifies the length of the course depending on the level and number of delegates; this means in-house certification is likely to be a cheaper option if full accreditation is not required for insurance or other business purposes.
- Location or shift-pattern training - additional charges may apply to cover reasonable travel expenses and training delivered on shifts (backshift or nightshift).
I'm looking for affordable forklift training - is there a way to keep the cost low?
Some of the ways to keep counterbalance forklift training costs affordable are:
- Arrange for 2 or 3 delegates on each course, rather than just 1
- Check if in-house certification is sufficient for your business' needs
- Group delegates with similar levels of experience together, or double check whether delegates have completed (& passed) other certified forklift training previously
